We don't need one to carry a gun here, as long as it is carried openly, i.e., you can walk down the street with a hip holster like Marshall Dillon. I've never seen it done, but it's legal.
The same, here in Missouri....and I have also never seen anyone out in public with a pistol on their hip. We can get a concealed carry permit if we go through a firearms training course, are 19 years old, and have no prior felony convictions. About the only time I ever see anyone carrying a weapon is during hunting season.
With all these protests and demands to "defund the police", here's a "thought".
Yes, lets defund the police, and instead of spending billions/yr. to maintain sheriff and police departments, use that money, instead to buy every adult a pistol and a box of ammo, and let them walk around "carrying". After a brief period of "carnage" where the criminals are "eliminated" by people who witness their actions, and the mouthy confrontational types of people recognize that their big mouths could get them killed, and begin to act civilized, we could see a far more cohesive society than we have today.
Contrary to the Hollywood movies, the people who lived in the Old West, many years ago, when carrying a pistol was the norm, had very few problems with each other. Most of those people said "Yes Sir or No Sir", instead of F### You.
Facetious???....perhaps, but the way people treat and insult each other today, it might be an improvement.
