Oh, per that Newsweek link Cruz and his younger brother Zachary were put in the care of Roxanne Deschamps, then she kicked him out of her trailer over the gun.The source told the Post that Deschamps had Cruz’s brother involuntarily committed on Friday. It is unclear if Zachary has since been released.

I couldn't find any reference at all on Snopes.
