Folding fitted bed sheets.....

I'm having company this weekend. The sheets on the guestroom bed are clean, so no problem there. However, the sheets I use for the air mattress that I'm going to put in the office have been folded up in the closet for months and might be a bit "stale". So, I washed them.

Which leads to folding them, as I won't blow up the air mattress until Saturday morning.

I've finally figured the definitive way to fold queen-sized fitted sheets: You fold the sheet in two and put your hands in the pockets on the short side. Then you fold the sheet again, attempting to get everything flat. You try again. It's still not flat. Then you try putting your hands in the pockets on the long side and attempt to fold the sheet. Still not flat. Next step: you yell "#@&*%#@" and stomp off. Later you come back, wad the sheet up and throw it on the floor of the office next to the deflated air mattress. Job done.

@jujube I feel your pain. I spent 30 minutes yesterday trying to fold a mattress pad. I tried the same thing but still could not get the darn thing flat and straight. My solution was just to roll the thing up like a sleeping bag, then I was able to take the corners and wrap the thing into a nice little package. I was actually shocked at how well it worked. Just throw the sheet back in the dryer to fluff it before you make the bed for your company.

I would still confess to them when they arrive, it will be a good chuckle and they will know how hard you worked to make things nice for them!

My SIL works from home. They made one of their bedrooms into his office. They added a Murphy bed that they just have to pull down from the wall when they have visitors. Family likes to visit when you live in Florida.

Lol, I've tried for years and have completely given up. I start to fold them like a regular sheet and keep going until I decide to ball it up and put it in the closet, lol.

Along the same lines, does anyone else hate making the bed in the morning? We have a king sized bed and I have to go from side-to-side pulling on the sheets to take the wrinkles out, make them flat and tuck them in. I feel like I've walked a mile when I'm done. I still do it every morning because I like to get into a made bed at night.

I read an article that said making the bed is the first thing you do in the morning that makes you feel like you've accomplished something. I'm not so sure about that.

Wash, dry in the dryer with a fabric softener sheet & don't think about wrinkles. Put the sheet on the mattress early in the morning & the sheet will usually be wrinkle free by the time to go to bed. Bottom line who really cares about wrinkles when going to bed?
I like the wrinkles. They draw attention away from my face.....

I don't care if sheets are wrinkled, and I fold fitted sheets by rolling them up into a ball and stuffing them into a drawer.

I would love to be able to fold fitted sheets properly -- I've even watched the youtube videos -- but it is apparently not one of my talents.
