Food cooking programs on t.v.

I never understood the popularity of cooking shows, but then I hate to cook. I'd watch Rachel Ray from time to time because she used to have good celebrity guests. If I had people to pre measure my ingredients for me and if I had a large kitchen with a window, perhaps I'd enjoy cooking more. Another thing I notice, they don't wash their hand enough when handling kitchen items.

Here's an upper-middle class guy with one of those million dollar studio kitchens, but he tends to do some interesting things. Often old-time recipes or unusual ingredients.

Here is one on some basic cookies with a twist:

A chemical reaction upping PH level - decreases rising time in bread doughs.

I liked Alton Brown because he taught cooking and the science behind it.
Jamie Oliver was relatable because he'd say things like: if you don't have eggplant, use zucchini, if you don't have either you can sub XYZ or leave it out and reduce the liquid by 1/3.

That said, I haven't watched a true cooking show in 15 years, maybe longer. Exception would be the Great British Baking Show, but that's not nearly as much fun as it once was. I only watch that when my older grands are spending the night and they request we watch one while they're getting ready for bed.
