Food - if you had to, how long could you last

ah well you've had a great excuse with the house move and all that.... now you've got to fill up the larder and the fridge.. because you may be getting a visit from another big family very soon... :D

I got to thinking about that.. Like, all night.

I text Mel this morning and told her don't bring Paxton over here too soon, wait for a few days. He needs to know her home is his new home, needs to sleep there and eat meals with them for at least a few days. Otherwise, he might think they're bringing him here to live. That would be horrible for him, and for them, too.

So she said she'll let him call me! That'll be cool. And fun. Once he's settled, then they can start visiting, and then he can stay weekends sometimes and all that.

I'm joking, but I never want to be in a situation where I have to protect me and my family from some poor guy and his hungry family. I'm glad my kids are grown. In fact, most of their kids are grown.

Honestly, I don't think that day is coming, but hard times are here, and it's very possible harder times are coming. I just doubt it will last for more than a few years. Maybe several. I just hope we can help each other during that time. Put all our canned goods and noodles in a big pot and eat alongside each other...no matter who. Literally and figuratively.

are you a member of a French Toast Club chapter? here in the middle of NJ, i bet there were people buying LOAVES of bread, DOZENS of eggs and GALLONS of milk... because of weather in Buffalo.

The ammo's mainiy for zombies and any thieves or murderers that might want to...steal or murder.
I'm willing to share the cheap brandy as long as they bring some mixer, preferably club soda. ;)
 
Not sure I qualify to post, I live in a room and board situation. I hate to cook, and I'm not real fond of eating either, I do however keep a 2 week supply of meal replacement on hand, so if the lady of the house went on holiday I guess I got 2 weeks.

There are four of us living here - my daughter, my grandson and my great grandson, so with very frugal usage, maybe a month. I have a very small freezer as part of my refrigerator. It would also depend on how long it had been since grocery delivery. I'm not a big eater anymore but the two males still are.

Frozen tomatoes ?.. I'm not sure if I've ever seen frozen tomatoes..
