My Husband went to get me EGGS. FOODTOWN was CHARGING 11:00 for 1 DOZEN . This is outrageous. Not going to pay that amount & someone should do something about this COUGING as all this prices have been raised so much. We are Senior Citizens on a fixed income and we have to watch how we spend our money and are tired of being ripped off. FOODTOWN REGO PARK 63 ROAD. We hope someone looks into this. It is the only supermarket we have in our neighborhood and the other one went out of business years ago. FOODTOWN is a gold mine and they take advantage of SENIOR CITIZENS and younger. This is despicable.

Welcome, Leone! You're right... prices are indeed out of control. I'm afraid you won't be able to find much help here, though... this forum has people from all over America as well as Europe, Australia, etc. so knowing where Rego Park Road is would be something a local consumer group would have to look into. My local TV station has a tipline for things like this so they can check into it... do you have anything like that?

My local store had a $15 price for the 18 pack of eggs. I guess we are lucky eggs are still available, I haven't kept up with the Avian Flu news, but when I went to the zoo a couple months ago, all the bird exhibits were closed due to avian flu risks. Very worrisome. I remember when West Nile was new in Colorado, we went from always having lots of blue jays to going years without even one. It was so sad.

That's why I left New York. Eggs are about $4 a dozen here, still too high.
 
We are all so focused on eggs right now. Let's face it folks, all the groceries are going up to stupid amounts. The only thing to do, which I have been doing for a long time, stay ahead. Buy things on sale or loss leaders, keep a well stocked pantry and freezer. Don't buy something just because it is on sale, buy what you like, can use. It takes a little time but can make a great deal of difference in your budget without having to give up the things you like.
 
If she lives in Rego Park she's doing ok. Expensive to live in Rego Park, "good" neighborhood, know it very well.
