For discussion: another phrase just 'heard'...

The complete quote by John Allen Paulos is: “Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.” Overall, I accept the philosophy to the exclusion of tangible certainties, such as the fact I am living in the present moment and typing this response.

In answer to your question of "How do you feel about it?" I navigate the uncertainties of life as best I can, which is sometimes difficult, due to a personal struggle with anxiety.

I so need this message. Thank you. 🤗 (A fellow warrior in the anxiety struggle.)

"The only certainty is uncertainty"!
by John Allen Paulos.

How do you feel about it?
Deal with it?😉

We like to feel as though we've got most things worked out, that we can confidently predict cause and action. But we're juggling so many variables in everything we do, aren't we? For example, I just made myself a cup of tea. Easy. I have tea, a kettle, and some milk. But to bring me that one convenience I relied of farmers, farm hands, factory workers, lorry drivers, containers, shipping, someone providing a storage space. Then I needed someone to make that kettle, to design it, engineer it, manufacture it, buy the materials etc. Someone has to make my cup. My milk came from a cow somewhere..... The permutations and complexity that allowed me to make that cup of tea are extreme.

And if they had failed at any key point - no tea for me. I used to work every day with people and they had their own lives!

We seem to notice the uncertainties only when something goes wrong. The rest is taken for granted. When I think of the number of hands and minds that brought my a single teabag, it's truly incredible.
