For fureverywhere, and all our pet parents

This is a sad topic, if you already have a pet. I'm almost 71 and my cat turns 17 in a few weeks. Kind of wondering who goes first. I'm hoping it's me. In my will, I told my younger brother, he has to find a good home for him, OR I coming back to haunt him forever. He believes in that stuff. And if I can, I will haunt him.
 
I shed more tears over the death of my 15 year old shih tsu than I did over the end of my 30 year marriage. That little dog was my best friend and I still miss him 4 years later.

I hope you have another dog now. There are so many dogs that need loving homes with people like you to care for them.

Blondie I'm having some renovations to my home mid year and after that I will be looking for a new best friend. I regularly check out the local rescue sites.............will be so hard to choose. When I bought my last little fellow he was in a pen with three of his siblings all fast asleep. He opened one eye and saw me and went crazy. So I like to say he chose me.

As a senior yourself, would you be choosing an older animal?

My little dog is 8 years old but if something happens and I still have lots of years left I would chose a senior dog. I've always felt so sad for the old fellas because fewer people want them and it's so hard for them after being part of a loving family for so long to find themselves in the bewildering situation of being in a shelter. Very sad for them. I once read about a youngish man who has adopted 6 or 7 senior dogs. Very caring man I think.
 
Life would not be the same without my dogs. Both of them have gotten me through some rough times.
