For Single Sleepers (and others can chime in too) What Size is Your Bed?

I have a queen. And I'm kind of tired of it. I have 4 bed areas on it for the cats. It's a bit of a hassle to make back up after washing the sheets, plus putting all the cat bed areas back. If I ever move, I'd consider downsizing to a double. I got this queen because I liked the head and foot board at the furniture store so I'd have to part with it. I guess it would also depend on the size of the bedroom. The mattress is a spring air and over 20 years old. It's been a good mattress.

Well, I think I am just the person to answer this one.

I got a new bed last June and I downsized from a queen to full size. I had this idea that I would have more room for a comfortable chair in the room and I do.

But, I have 2 cats and there actually is room for both of them but they don't think it's enough room. Where they got along before on the queen they don't like it there now. One has moved himself to my chair in another room and the other one owns the other side of the bed.

I still haven't put a new chair in the room so maybe I should have stuck with a queen.

I have a queen and use all of it! I have always been a restless sleeper so am constantly moving to different positions. I never have allowed pets in my bed, I hate the hair and don't want to give up any space.

Yes mine is a Queen too... because I'm also a very restless sleeper..

I have a Queen also but I tend to stay on my side and it’s obvious..there’s an indent. Will need to turn over mattress when grandson is home from college. Son in law is useless.
I do turn a lot during the night..back and forth..left to right..along with the pillow I hold.

Thank you for this informative reply. One cat can take up a lot of space on a bed if they choose the middle. My departed calico could do that. And I do want my cats to sleep on the bed with me. Sometimes my calico doesn't. She goes out on the couch. Your post is certainly something to consider.

OMG you are back!

That's another point, I used to be able to rotate that queen mattress myself, I can't anymore. It is a one sided mattress but I'd love to turn it head to foot but I can't.

Yes I am..nice to see you also.
Now why didn’t I think of rotating it? That I might be able to do with my daughter. Thanks!

I was sleeping on mats on the floor until a few months ago.

Now I have a twin mattress on the floor. It fit in my car, and I was able to get it up the stairs by myself. I can turn it periodically by myself. It was hella expensive; I hate to think what a larger mattress would have cost.

No need for a larger one. I tend to stay in the same spot. And I prefer to sleep alone, even when I have a husband or romantic partner.

I don't have a cat now, but I know that kitties take up the whole bed, no matter what size mattress you have. 😸

I used to have a twin size but when I bought a bed this year I got a full size (I think same as a double?), but the cat still tries to sleep close to me (he sleeps on his own side during the day when I'm not in bed). But at least the full size has more room for extra pillows.

Ditto. I can barely stand to lay in bed all night owing to achy ribs and vertebrae. I left my wife and my half our king sized mattress in our room and moved permanently into my stepson’s old room which would now be the guest room except that my stay isn’t temporary.

The platform for his old mattress was a queen so when I replaced it I stayed with that. I got a Ghostbed mattress for the convenience but can’t recommend it. The Temperpedic in our old king sized bed is older but much more comfy. We got the California King which more longer than wider and I definitely miss that.
