For Single Sleepers (and others can chime in too) What Size is Your Bed?

I have a queen and use all of it! I have always been a restless sleeper so am constantly moving to different positions. I never have allowed pets in my bed, I hate the hair and don't want to give up any space.
Yup

Ours is a queen size too
Pillow top rocks

We start out spooning (a single would be plenty)

Then
My shoulder and hip begins to ache
And I flop around

I've been told, when I zonk out, I tend to run in my sleep
Actually could use a king size for that

I was sleeping on mats on the floor until a few months ago.

Now I have a twin mattress on the floor. It fit in my car, and I was able to get it up the stairs by myself. I can turn it periodically by myself. It was hella expensive; I hate to think what a larger mattress would have cost.

No need for a larger one. I tend to stay in the same spot. And I prefer to sleep alone, even when I have a husband or romantic partner.

I don't have a cat now, but I know that kitties take up the whole bed, no matter what size mattress you have. 😸
Wow, you live really light. I might have read this before but were you homeless for a time? That's a terrible though. I hope your place is safe and permanent.

Double, and cats welcome any time. The weird thing is, I still sleep mostly on "my" side of the bed. I have the most comfortable mattress, I love it so much, I hate to leave in the morning and can't wait to get into at night.

How about a futon? Then you have a couch and a double bed!
I too sleep on the one side. One reason I needed to rotate it.

Would you be willing to reveal the mattress brand?

Thank you, Remy. I do live light, always in anticipation of losing everything and having to move on. Getting a treadmill (i.e., something I can't carry by myself) was a big deal for me.

I hope I can stay here, as most other places in Canada are too expensive.

I got it at Mattress Firm. It's one of those in the box types. It is memory foam with a gel top. It is 2 years old now and even better than ever. I try to remember to rotate twice a year. I don't remember exact name, but it was obscure, not Purple, etc.
Thanks. We have Mattress Firm in my town. I took my stepfather there to get a new mattress. They were very nice and not pushy. I'll look to see what they have when I buy a new one, since that's where I'll probably to.

My place is set up so I basically live in the cabin during winter months, and a mobile home during the nicer months. (Because it's really cheap to heat the cabin). So, winter it's a twin size, with a crib mattress alongside for a dog. One in bed with me and one on the crib mattress, although we all start out in the twin bed. Kinda cute because I use the same sheets on both, so they match. Then in the nice months we all sleep in a full size bed. I can't ever remember a time when I didn't share my bed with a couple big dogs.

I do not want a double, that is what I have. I loved my twin and should not have gotten rid of it. I want the adjustable with a remote so I can raise my legs easier. Right now I use a wedge and it is not easy.

Ditto. I can barely stand to lay in bed all night owing to achy ribs and vertebrae. I left my wife and my half our king sized mattress in our room and moved permanently into my stepson’s old room which would now be the guest room except that my stay isn’t temporary.

The platform for his old mattress was a queen so when I replaced it I stayed with that. I got a Ghostbed mattress for the convenience but can’t recommend it. The Temperpedic in our old king sized bed is older but much more comfy. We got the California King which more longer than wider and I definitely miss that.
You might try buying a featherbed to place on too of your matress. It’s like a big pillow. I have one on my bed and it’s made a big difference in comfort of achy bones.

Had lived with a King for years, but that was the last thing I wanted in my move to a small apartment.
Ordered a bed in a box in Twin ...1/2 the King.
I put an 8" wide, and 3' tall (mattress level) firm foam section along the wall, and put the twin bed frame against that. Perfect for me.

Looks like a full, but no rolling to get out of bed, or have any problem changing bedding, or mattress flipping.

I’ll look into it. thanks. I got a Purple brand foam mattress topper but I’m not a fan. I hope it works as well for me as for you.
