For the ladies only: Your opinion on changing styles

What is your opinion on the cute little backpacks over one shoulder? I like them a lot because I always thought "purses" were so "ole lady".
But, Now that I'm an "ole lady", are they something only the young should wear? Do you think they are "age inappropriate" for us?

I've been wearing leggings from, well, before they were popular and levies forever. What is your opinion of the "jogging pants"? (elastic ankles)
I'm not fond of the "fat pants" (as I call them) but the DO look comfortable. What are YOUR thoughts?

At our age, should we forget about fads and "styles" and just be comfortable? We arn't trying to impress anyone.
Or, is looking "cool" important to you? Do you have favorite clothes you wear over and over as you ignore the rest?

Comfort tends to win out especially as we age .... frankly never followed any trends or fads in clothing or accessories stick with classics and basics figure i saved a ton of money and embarrassment .... as many fads do not look good on all

I'm not familiar w/the backpacks you're talking about. i mean I've seen them worn w/both straps around the back, but not 1 strap. I think they're geared more for the younger generation.

And, I'm not really sure about the 'jogging pants' w/the elastic ankles. I don't think I'd wear them. For now, I'll just stick to my jeans and leggings, and cut offs (in this hot weather) for now. It's what I know, and what works for me.

A little off topic...But, I really need to find some comfortable shoes w/an 1 or 2 inch heel, I'm so short and I'm feeling it.
Everyone is so tall!

Count me in the camp of functionality and comfort. While i had some aesthetics/style from late teens to mid 40 that mostly involved wearing colors/styles i felt good in --i.e. comfortably able to function, move freely in, to do whatever job or activity was involved.

I see no reason to to change now.

Comfortable shoes a must but heel irrelevent to me. The only time my height (or lack thereof) bothers me is when i need things off a top shelf. All my kids passed me by when they were 13. Daughter lives with me and i have one of those reach & grip things that helps.

Standing in my closet recently I noticed that I gravitate to vibrant patterns. In my mind these clothes are required for going out occasions or travelling. I really enjoy buying them. Only problem is that we never do either of these things anymore.

In the winter I’m in jeans. My body doesn’t suit leggings and I refuse to display all the lumps and bumps. Jeans are comfy.

For summertime, it‘s dresses. I have some skirts but am not enjoying wearing them so much; maybe I need a different size. Shorts, shorts, capris will never happen.

I have 4 seasons worth of shirts and blazers.

Things need to be whittled down again. Some things are just not the right size; it’s hard being really short.

I have a backpack purse that doesn’t fit since I wear a backpack when walking to the store.

Lately I’ve seen young people wearing a fanny pack crossbody style.

I am usually in jeans. If I wear shorts they are Bermuda's or capris. I can't even remember the last time I put on a dress but I do have a nice one just waiting to go to a grandchild's wedding. Sneakers in the summer, boots in the winter. Most of my stuff is up to date, some of it probably even a little too young for me, except for the jeans. Jeans are totally age appropriate, comfortable, elastic waist great-grannie jeans.

I like to look as nice as possible, for myself more than for anyone else, because it makes me feel better. I've always loved clothes that look like they came from a bygone age, because that's me, so being trendy isn't an issue.

Trends are like tattoos and I wouldn't get one of those either. 😊

My closet is filled with t-shirts. I love collecting them from wherever I go, or favorite movies/TV shows, animal prints, tie dye, you name it. I wear them daily, along with capri pants mostly. I'm into comfy! The closet in the other bedroom holds my "special occasion" clothes, which I put in plastic bags so they don't get dusty. Now, if I could just get rid of all the bras in my drawer, I'd be a happy camper.

Dress in whatever makes you feel like you are you. I have always liked collared, button down the front blouses and shirts, mostly long sleeve. Jeans are always in style, Lots of shoes for me, but nothing high and blingy. Mostly flats, and sandals, or easy comfort.

As an aside, I'm glad you asked about style. Could someone explain how to feel good in longer, hankerchief edged tops, sweaters, dusters? Getting in and out of the car is a hazard, sitting down pulls at your torso, closing doors grabs at the hems....well, you see my dilemma? Not to mention they are going out of style, and what the heck do you do with them then??
