Alice Cooper's Solid Rock Teen Center - Arizonans for Children
I was about the same age as you when it came out! This song came out when I was in high school. I was 18...and 'I liked it'
Very with the times..
Yeah they're still performing all over. I never got a chance to see him in concert but have watched many of his concerts on YouTube.I remember meeting Vinnie (AC) when he and the lads first came to Hollywood. I was at a Zappa record mixing session, and took a break in the hallway. Vinnie came up and related that the band had recorded a demo for some producer who supposedly had an office in that building, but they couldn't find him. I told him "Welcome to Hollywood". They were all real nice guys.
Soon Zappa signed them to a record deal, and we played a few west coast gigs with them while they were developing their stage antics. Later they got huge, and still are.
Well thanks for your opinion. I however don't agree with you one but. He's extremely popular and his musicSaw the Alice Cooper group at a small open-air festival on the British Columbia coast (I forget exactly what spot). I doubt the attendees amounted to a thousand people. There were tie dye & trinket sellers (etc) around the edges, and there was a big biker presence with their women running food booths. A bunch of bands played in succession, and the day I was there the Flying Burrito Brothers were probably the most famous group who played.
The first time I ever heard the name "Alice Cooper" was when they were announced, when they were finally set up on stage and ready to play. The band members were dressed in transvestite clothing. I was into music, I couldn't relate to them... wondered why they dressed like that and their music wasn't very impressive. I suppose their presentation had a similarity to Frank Zappa's group in that there was a theater aspect to it.![]()
