Former students and Facebook

Not sure why, but in the last week or so, a dozen former students have connected with me on Facebook. Don't get me wrong -- I'm pleased as punch. But I'm not sure why. I can only guess that once I accepted one friend request, it just spread. I taught in a small, small town, and the kids were all very close. Pretty sure they have stayed connected on Facebook. I remember all of them, some more than others, and some more fondly than others, but I am glad to reconnect. The most recent one who has friended me was a student of a student I taught. Yep -- two generations. I'm really rather proud of that.

The best part about teaching in that school (K thru 12) was that I got to see "my kids" grow up.

Them getting in touch with you is touching. Especially in this age where we simple "lose" people as they move on in life.

Love K-12 schools. My kids all attended one in a very small town. They are still friends with the kids they went to school with,even though we moved away when the last two finished there. Our "baby" is 40,so it`s been a while. The town we moved to is the same size, and while they don`t have K-12,all of the schools are on the same campus,so it`s almost like a K-12. The kids do stay so close.
