My house has 3 levels. The living room & den (where I entertain, Thanksgiving, etc) is upstairs & there are 7 steps outside & 8 inside to get up there. Getting the groceries upstairs is not a big problem, but those cases of bottled water are - they're 30 lbs. each & I usually need 5 or 6 of them. It's getting hard on my back.

I was watching QVC recently & saw a "Trolley Dolly XL." For those who haven't seen it, it's a dolly that easily climbs stairs. It has 3 wheels on each side & as you pull it up stairs, each wheel changes to the next one. Makes a big difference, especially if you're older.
It will hold 200 lbs on level ground & up to 70 lbs on stairs. That's fine with me - I can easily make 3 trips with two cases of water each time. When it arrived yesterday, I tested it - I put 2 cases of water on it & went up & down 16 stairs 3 times & wasn't even tired.

I don't have very good balance but it was easy to pull the dolly up & down the stairs with my other hand on the railing. What I really like about it is that it also gets heavy things down stairs easily - by pushing the dolly in front of you. And it's easy to control it so it doesn't slam down each step. It comes with a nylon bag for shopping, or you can remove it for heavy items.

Pretty clever. One of those things we'll appreciate more as we get older.

We addressed that by buying a ground floor condo. The bonus is no stairs to fall down in our old age.

Since we got the ramp put in, we no longer have steps. But, I wonder if something like this would work on the ramp. I would guess I could buy something similar with regular wheels to bring groceries in from the car.

I use a laundry trolley to bring in my groceries from the car.

My home is one level, one brick up to the house from the garage.

We just moved into a new house last year. The people that owned the house had a stair lift (chair) on the stairs to the basement and my husband and I love it. We had a 3 level house before and now we don't have to climb steps anymore.:yeah:
