Four schools on lockdown in kansas city area due

I expected to read about more copycats, whether they be real or just threats. Kids get crazy ideas and forget about the consequences. Back in the late 60’s and early 70’s, there were many bomb threats being called in by kids who had hooked off school.

One of the kids that occasionally hung around with our little clique was one of those kids that made a call. Someone in the office recognized his voice and the state police called him into the office and he pretty quickly admitted to doing it. He was arrested, but able to stay home while waiting for his trial.

He was charged as a juvenile and given probation, but was not allowed to return to our school. He ended up going to a Christian school nearby and his parents had to pay a tuition for him to go there. I still see him around occasionally and he has done pretty well for himself. I think he realized he was very lucky to not have received any jail time.

It's sad that they are canceling summer school programs because of this.

Score one for the Boogeyman!

If things like this keep happening public schools will become home school programs and private classroom education will be for the rich.

We lived in Blue Springs for about 25 years....the mid 70's, until 2002. The kids grew up there and it was a nice middle class suburb. Back then, most of the "upheaval" was in Independence and Raytown. I follow the KC news and it seems that BS, and Lee's Summit are seeing more issues every year. Now, with these recent shootings, I suspect there will be more "copycat" actions and threats coming from young people who have seen their lives impacted by these Covid issues.

Since they’ve arrested the suspect, you’d think the school programs could go ahead.
It's not just the "lunatics" that will be affecting school programs. On the news, this morning, there were reports of several school districts shutting down their Summer programs because of the oppressive heat hitting this area...with heat indexes in the triple digits nearly every day.

It almost seems like they are looking for excuses to not run the summer programs.
