Exploitation, mob justice, fear, highly emotional state, revenge etc. Is this how any country should pass permanent laws that people will forget about a year from now. France close to their version of the US Patriot Act.

True, something has to be done but 'professional' politicians and/or their leaders are the ones paid to keep their cool and make informed decisions and to think things out and that includes potential future consequences known or unintended.

Now that's expecting a lot isn't it? Like maybe too much and a totally foreign possibility for any of the buffoons who rule.

The leaders know exactly what they are doing just like the Patriot Act, and it has nothing to do with protecting citizens, preserving freedoms. It's about removing impediments.

My gov't is beginning to froth at the mouth as well. Sigh. Sometimes it is embarrassing to be a Canadian ruled by wannabe warlord mindset prime minister. Thank God we only have a mini armed forces.

I like this phrase at the end of your link WhatInThe, '...– making your own citizens feel uncomfortable at home is the goal of terrorists, so why do that work for them?' That is applicable in these issues isn't it? Our government just passed Bill C51 which probably does pretty much the same thing, i.e. takes away the right to privacy, probably inhibits free expression too....
What a bizarre time we live in isn't it? But you know, in so many ways, it's just like Game of Thrones with all the 'kingdoms' and 'kings' jockeying for power and prestige.
