A long time ago, I was telling my mom about how I was sad because a friend I really liked was moving far away and I'd therefore never see her again. Mom shrugged and said, "That's the way life is: people come into your life and then go away and you never see them again. Nothing you can do about it." It made me really sad at the time that she felt that way but as the years have gone by, I realized she was right.
