Fruit flies invasion

This is the time of year when we get those pesky fruit flies in the house.

For some reason these were in the bathroom. Usually in the kitchen.

What I found that worked as a good trap without anything fancy is a small prescription bottle with a small amount of vinegar in it and just left there. Malt vinegar works best but ordinary vinegar will do.

They don't seem to be able to make it out once they get in. The invasion was stopped.

We have them now all around the house, coming from the fresh peaches, plums, etc. I've been buying at the supermarket. Not doing it now, but in the past when they were bad, I used a shallow cup or small bowl with dish soap and red wine vinegar. Quite a few of them would be attracted to it and drowned.

Yes I have seen all kinds of suggestions for traps. But the prescription bottle one seems to work the best for me. With the other wide traps, they seem to hover around the trap without going in. Then they take off to breed somewhere. The narrow opening seems to work better for some reason or maybe it's the color of the container.

My kitchen was invaded by flies a week ago.
Went around swatting them,, wondering where are they coming from?

Remembered someone telling me to pour bleach down the drains.
Poured some in all the downstairs drains,, that worked.
