I had a similar situation when I posted a photo in Holly's birthday thread.

I captured the image of a greeting card from England and posted it as usual.

When I returned a few hours later all I could see was the small square.

I'm not sure but I've wondered if the image is protected in some way to prevent people like me from using it without actually purchasing it.

When it comes to the internet I always assume that any image is fair game as long as I'm not using it for commercial purposes but the original owners of the image may not feel the same way.
