Very low rise or Ped type in summer with shoes.
Sauceny (Amazon) low rise in warmer weather. I, also don't match them anymore. I have black and white and keep them in a section of drawer.
Winter: Years ago I bought some dark knee high "compression" socks at Walmart. I was looking for knee highs that would stay up. The lady there said they were not true compression but fit tight. I love them! Especially for travel. My legs feel better when I wear them. Lighter knit for North Carolina but warm.
Deep Winter: Wooly, cozy, fleece or heavy knit.
I'm shocked at how much I invested in this thread!

Socks are important! Ever since I had a bout with a toe fungus (ew!) I always have very clean feet and wear socks even with slippers.
@Ruthanne I still have a box of knee high Leggs nylon stockings along with pantyhose in my drawer. I haven't worn in years! I save them for DH to tie things up in the garden.
