Funny how people change as they grow old.

Just reminscing about changes in likes and dislikes as you age. In particular, I was thinking about different ways of expressing yourself from youth-adulthood-senior citizen. I used to own a leather cowboy hat I really enjoyed wearing. However, as much as I liked the cowboy hat, but wearing that same hat today would not bring the same sense of ownership and meaning as before.

I guess that’s true with anything? Fashion comes and goes, leading us, sometimes subconsciously, to purchase useless items that propitiate the economy making the poor, poorer and the rich, richer. Have you noticed, poor people in particular try to euminate celebrities, movie stars and sports players by purchasing parafenelia that depicts great wealth and status. Does anyone own a pair of Michael Jordans? When consumers purchase outrageously priced items that represents another person’s achievements, there is something wrong with our state of value and the human race.

Not many people who help life by devoting time, money and kindness can do so without drawing attention to themselves. I like the attention I get from strangers and people I know. Sometimes even more, secretly helping others without expectations.

Getting back to fashion, what was I thinking? Bright orange, 3” platform shoes? Oh my aching feet.

I've been throw phases. As a blonde, I dyed my hair dark, and then ginger. Hell, back in the 60's I had a perm!! I've worn it long, and short (it's long right now). I was a punk at the time, and clearly remember going to the pet store to choose which dog collar looked best on me. I had a pair of ankle boots that were bright red. You get the idea.

I think we need to work through these things as we grow up and express ourselves. There's nothing wrong with it, it's normal. While I can laugh now, at the time it was all mighty cool. I don't have any shame about it. In fact, I think it's fun.
