How often do you change them? I do it once a month and just read the changing them only at the start of each season is adequate.

Do you change more often if you have pets in the house?

Unless your area is exceptional windy and dusty(like ours here) every 3~4 months would probably be fine. Write the date on the filter with a sharpie when you replace the filter, then check the filter periodically for the amount of dust collected.

It isn't a time thing. On the first of each month look at the filter, when it's starts to collect to much then you will know how look your system filter will need to be changed. Start with a new one then start watching it. Each household will be different. This will be a pain if your filter is hard to get at, but worth it since it will effect the efficiency of your system and will put a strain on it. Which will cost a lot more later. I change my filter every other month, we live on a dirt road and have a cat.

I do it twice a year, when I start the heater for the winter and when I start the ac in the spring. That is what my unit calls for but am thinking of doing it more often since I have had a large hairy dog join the family. I know I have to vacuum the intake vents a lot more often. Even the floors need to swept or vacuumed once a day to keep up with the beast. (kidding, he is a sweetheart)

Change mine every other month, in the winter but it collects fast, it’s once a month
In summer, spring, I check them often, and decide then.

Twice a year for the A/C filters. There is no way I am going up into our attic right now when the temps are over 100 degrees. I changed the filter in May and will change it again in September. But I brush my cats once a week. ;)
