Gastric Bypass Riddle

This dietitian's answer is that many people are overweight because they self-medicate stress and other unfun life stuff with eating. If that's not dealt with before surgery with counseling, post surgery there's likely to be a chemical addiction to replace emotional eating. I had one patient that I strongly advised against surgery. She wasn't willing to go to counseling and with her massive weight and already angry outlook on life, I was afraid she'd wind up a serial killer!

Why did the overweight person decide against having gastric bypass surgery?
So what is the answer.

I have a hard time thinking of this as a joke, I was overweight most of my life and was then able to lose about 200 pounds, without the surgery. The reason I decided against it was that I just did not want to be cut into. Makes it hard for me to think of this as a riddle, but I'd still like to know the answer.
