Gave my Laptop Keyboard a Drenching

A water spill is survivable, Coffee in the keyboard is a death sentence.
I've had to restrict myself to only one cup in the morning so luckily the cup was empty. I grabbed the paper towels as soon as I could. This morning after drying all day the only thing I was aware of was my backlit KB is not working. Hopefully it will if the drying process continues. I can survive with no backlit KB. I guess Linux doesn't protect the laptop from water spills.

I know they make clear KB covers but I'll refrain from using it. Reminds me of the sofa/chair clear covers my mother made us use in the 50's. Even had them in our '61 Nash Rambler. Cold & stiff in the winters, hot & sticky in the summers.

Noted: Drying process - no rice, just upside/down perched atop the cooling fan in 106 F temps.

Sorry to hear Roadwarrior, I hope that you get it dry, but
I would like to suggest, that don't have it upside down,
the water vapour from the heat won't be able to escape!

Good luck.

Mike.

I didn't baptize my KB but last week I spilled a glass of water all over my desk where I have my PC and KB. My checkbook was drenched and it took several days for the checks to dry out. The bank told me they would be OK to use when they dried out. đź«—

Working good this AM all but the backlit. Your post reminds me of my sister's daughter (our 'Bad Seed') gotcha. Many years ago she took a cancelled check out of the garbage. Scribbled out the cancellation stamp, wrote it out for more & the bank cashed it. My first purchase after that was a shredder.
