Good Saturday Morning, Kaila & Friends! Summer is here so now I can complain about the hot weather. I am not fond of summer at all. It is pretty but I have trouble with the heat. Hope you all have a beautiful day!

Happy Summer Solstice!
It was actually yesterday for the EST (10:42pm), but that's hardly enough time to celebrate this lovely day! You know, this day occurs between 6/20 - 6/22, we should just celebrate it across all three days!
Mega party!
We are moving into a heat spell here, so I'll be carrying water for Lucius on the walks today. They are short walks, but he's a Boxer and they're sensitive to heat. Poor puppy.
Anxiety was just a little better yesterday which is the right direction, so, you know, yay!
@Kaila, glad you got halfway through your chicken puree project and especially that it was delicious!

Stress increases tremor miseries & too high heat is a stressor........boy am I glad for the window air-conditioner my 60 year old daughter puts it in (and takes it out) every year. This year, having to be careful not to aggravate her small of the back problem, her fiancé got stuck with the job. He was happy to help.

I've been thinking of the challenges that each of you are facing this week....
sending good vibes and caring your ways.
@Medusa I do know first hand how difficult that anxiety gets. I have been hoping that you're managing to keep it at bay till reinforcement comes on Monday.
@RadishRose I have been thinking of things that are hanging and weighing on your mind and hoping the load will become lighter.
Have you gotten fans or any other way to keep cool during the hot humid week ahead?
Someone will come to put our a/c in the window, "sometime this week "
That means Monday to Friday.
That's too wide a time frame imo.
Especially with the forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
We'll manage, of course.

poured down rain this morning now it's hot. oh @Kaila yes I do have a standing fan that's right near me. grandson supposedly coming today with one of those floor models I ordered the kit to enclose the window. supposed to be here today from Amazon this is until I get approved for a state supported new air conditioning system That's if I get approved and it will take weeks. I'm still waiting for one last document to submit that they forgot to tell me about so we'll see what happens. in the meantime I'll be cool Thanks for asking.

Hearing that the Northern areas of the country are much hotter than we are down South.
So sorry for that, whem also dealing with A/C problems.
Hope things can be resolved very soon … probably not soon enough for your liking.

Hello, everyone. Bit of a change in the weather here. Still warm but overcast and occasional showers. Thundery ones forecast for later on.
This weekend has been a 2 day celebration of the life of a local lad, Dave Myers, one half of The Hairy Bikers. Not sure if any of you will have heard of them. They were amateur cooks who toured both the UK and the world on their bikes doing cooking along the way. Dave died in Feb 2024 and the first 'Dave Day' was held in June last year.
Motorcyclists from all over the UK rode into town for the celebrations. The starting point was The Ace Cafe in London yesterday at 7am, they arrived here at approximately 15.15. There was a charity concert in the town centre etc. I didn't go to that but I did walk into town today where there was all manner of stalls. It was great to see the town 'busy' again even if it was only for one day!
A photo of Dave's wife riding pillion with Si King (the other part of The Hairy Bikers) as they arrive. This photo is from a local newspaper.
I bought a book while I was in the town, written by Dave's wife, so I look forward to reading that. Got to rush off now, going to son's for my evening meal.

We’ve had 3 days of on and off light rain. It’s much appreciated since it’s been an extremely dry spring. I like walking and listening the rain on my umbrella. It’s a floral design. No black for me, mainly because I want to be seen in inclement weather. It also picks up my spirits.

I will keep it in mind for when this old one peters out.
Wishing you strength @Kaila and a day of less pain. You need a rolling A/C that doesn’t need to be lifted. They work as well.
The summer heat is on all over the country which then brings bad storms …can’t win.

I'm glad to hear that you are okay at least for now, with the fans, though I hope they will be enough for this coming week.
And I hope your approval will come sooner than expected. I know what it's like to have to submit multiple documents and applications for things we'd rather not need.
I've had to apply for so much, this past several months. Since January when I got home from the hospital and rehab stays.
We only got a tiny sprinkle of light rain this morning early. Not nearly the rain that our plants need outdoors unfortunately.
We got 1 load of laundry done today which is helpful!
I have a medical appointment for myself tomorrow, Monday.
And will take dh for his on Tuesday.

Good morning! Is everyone dealing with the heat wave doing okay? This is "day two" of it for me, but at least the expected high was changed from 100 to 96 for tomorrow... and 96 today. By Thursday it should be back into the high 80s. I hope all goes well with your doc appointment today, Kaila.

Like, @CallMeKate, we are going to endure another day of extreme heat. Our high today is 95F/35C and we are under an extreme heat watch.
It's going to be a bit tricksy, getting Lucius walked today while keeping him in the shade and off the hot pavement. I change the route entirely so as to keep him on grass and under trees. And as soon as his "puppy business" is completed, we head straight back.
You know, actually, today is a good day to hose him down before the walks, as well. Ugh, the weather.
I have therapy in 40 minutes, so I need to put my make-up on and check my notes.

I have sheets of cardboard in the windows on two sides of apt. where hot sunlight blasts through. Even though the windows have blinds. It helps with keeping some of the heat out. I aimed my tower fan to here where I sit at my computer. Keeps me so cool I could sit here all day......ha ha. I've a portable electric fan in a living room window. Cardboard sheets ain't purty, but hey, they were free.

We're okay, so far, but tomorrow will be the scorcher. I wish they'd come this afternoon.
I was exhausted from lack of overnight lack of sleep, but managed my appointment.
Time for me to try napping now.
I've expanded slightly, my list of soft food that I'm able to be eating. Which helps, but it's still slow improvement.
The homemade broth is good on slices of wheat bread. Delicious.
