Gentle posts for gentle folks

Good Morning & Happy New Year's Day, Kaila! Sounds like you are getting things done. Little steps will see big improvements. I always wonder about those meals on wheels. Some of the guys in my building get them and they wait at the front door in the mornings for the delivery. I doubt they would work for me either. It has been easier to get food that is simple to prepare and clean up after. Enjoy your day!

That was so kind of you to take the time and effort this morning, to post in my thread, @katlupe

Meals on wheels...I think you could look up online, the daily menu for your own local one, just to see what you'd actually get there, out of curiosity.

Each one offers their own, and has their own options, IF ANY, of any special diet.

Ours only had 1 or 2 daily meal options..... and those include daily, things that are to difficult for me to chew or swallow or digest, or etc.....(IBS, and diverticulitis, etc)

And huz also cannot chew them.either for different reasons than mine.

They Include dairy milk, whole corn, raw apple, cheese, peanut butter, hot dogs, lettuce etc......

i wrote the above Just for general info.
I am sure they are good for some people.

I took my first bath at home with a tub bench, today.
It will definitely take some getting used to.
But I got clean and was much safer.
Clean hair too.

And it does not require any bathroom renovation at all, which is both costly and involves landlord approval and cooperation, etc.

I always cook fish (mostly cod but sometimes salmon) on the stove top. Sprinkle salt on raw fish (I use kosher salt). Place a small amount of oil with about the same amount of butter in skillet, just enough to cover the bottom of the pan. Once hot, place fish in, sprinkle with a little curry powder and/or garam masala, cover and let cook for a couple of minutes.

Turn fish, add a couple tablespoons of water, cover and let cook a couple more minutes till almost done. Sprinkle a little lemon juice on it with another small pat of butter, cover for about 30 seconds till butter melts, remove and serve. The butter, water, spices and bit of oil all come together to make a nice sauce. Yum! (well, if you like curry and garam masala).

There's a vacant apartment directly, next to mine.
It shares the living room wall, so I am waiting to see what neighbor will move in.......

I think the landlord has it ready for a new person, now.

That's just a guess.... so we'll wait and see.

Is this a seniors-only building?

I'm cooking 2 small pieces of salmon, in a small glass pan. On stove top.

I'm glad to find that i can do this very simple steaming method, which takes only 10 minutes.
And it's good protein.
Awesome achievement! 🎉 It seems like you are accomplishing more each day!

I had fish for New Years Day, too. (It's a good luck tradition in my family.)

I smear a little pesto on the bottom of my pan (or butter with garlic powder), add my fish and some cut up onions....and let it simmer/steam. When it's almost done, I sprinkle some mozzarella cheese on top!
