Gentle posts for gentle folks

Good Afternoon, Kaila and Friends 🤗 :coffee: ❄️

As Kate has mentioned, it's freezing today! I'm not so unhappy about the cold though, as I am about the predicted snow for the weekend. 😭 I'm trying not to have a bad attitude about it because I know that will only make it that much worse to endure, but damn. Maybe it will rain quickly after the snowfall and wash it all away like a bad dream.

Yesterday, boyfriend's family; ex-wife, (who is still very much family to him) and adult sons had to put their 15 year old cat to sleep. :( Boyfriend was understandably very sad yesterday so I was, and still am, staying close to him. Yesterday, we watched some soccer (football) and played a lot of Animal Crossing together. He's sad, but he also knows that Ickis (the cat) was old and unwell and it was the right thing to do. I think he feels badly too that he couldn't be there with them.

We are going to play some more AC today. :)

Husband and I watched the first half of a hockey game last night. I stayed up late to manage that and I'm paying for it today. Would have been more worth the lost sleep if, at halfway through the game, our team wasn't down 3-0. :/ -They need to pull the goal tender; he's having a bad night and the team needs the change in momentum.

@Kaila, sorry you're feeling so tired and having pain. :( Is the paperwork out of your way now? Hoping you got some sleep last night.

@MarciKS, nice that you were feeling so good yesterday! :)

Sorry this was long; I'm catching up.

Wishing everyone here a nice Wednesday afternoon. 🥕🥕🥕

Wonderful posts....
Thank you for the sharing,
@Medusa
And @CallMeKate

Medusa,
Very sorry about the loved old kitty; it's always so hard to say good bye.

I agree that some sports games are more worth staying up later, for, than others!😵‍💫

Had to finish the stack of paperwork, this morning....
A literal mountain of it..... well, it felt like a mountain.

But it's done. Whew!

Worn out, and other needs had to wait 😖

But it's done. Whew!

Oh, I said that already. 😊😁😄

Thank you, Kaila; I'll pass that along to boyfriend. ❤️

So happy for you in getting your paperwork finished! Yay! 💐

Oh, I'm just now backtracking thru the thread and seeing that the top of a favorite dish broke. 🙁😢
It always feels sad when that happens.

Where will you look for another one like it?
Oh I missed this. It’s only a President’s Choice butter dish so nothing too expensive. I should be able to get a replacement at our supermarket. If not I’ll find something else.
I’m glad you got the sleep you needed.
It must have been good to get all that paperwork done and out of the way.

Morning K fam. Hope everyone is doing exceptionally well today. For some reason I feel really good today. Not sure what's up with that. It is not normal at all. But I will take it over the alternative. I guess the word I'm looking for is spirited. Odd.

It is cold here again.
Glad you’re feeling good MarcikS.
It’s nice to have good days where nothing is hurting.
Good morning, K-Posse! I've already had my coffee and am wrapped in a blanket. TWO degrees... it's dropping and was 3 when I got up. I really hope the rest of you are having a warmer day because this is crazy! Any big plans for today? How was your sleep, Kaila? And were you able to complete the paperwork you'd hoped to finish?

it was -12 here today so very cold. I wore my extra warm winter coat but it was a bit too warm. The puppies had on their winter ski jackets. They looked so cute in them. I had to dress them all up today since they had a bath and hair cut yesterday.

@Medusa - sorry about your boyfriends ex’s 15 year old cat. Dogs and cats really are family and it’s so difficult when they have to go. I hope you could help him feel better.
❤️‍🩹

Um.... @Medusa ? Don't throw anything at me, but I just saw the brand new projections for the storm. You seem to always have the same weather I do... and the new totals for Sunday into Monday (at least for me) are 12"-18". 🥺
Ah, Kate. No shooting the messenger. 😅💐

I admit it, I hate snow! I hate it! I'm giving up trying to have a better attitude about it and embracing the hate. 😡 18 freaking inches! I'll need snow shoes to walk the dog. The dog will need snow shoes! 😭

It's a few days away yet; maybe some kind of miracle will happen and we'll be saved. I can hope.

Going to play AC with boyfriend and then finished the not-looking-so-good hockey game with husband. :)

Beautiful post, once again, Patty;
Thank you for that.
But oh gosh..... minus 12!
oh I need to look that up..... perhaps you do Celsius, while my brain does Fahrenheit. 😉😊😁🥰

Good morning, Kaila & Co. Similar to you @Kaila, I've been catching up on paperwork, it's done and dusted now so I can stop stressing!

So very sorry @Medusa to hear about boyfriend's cat. 🫂 Our pets really are part of the family aren't they?

You are all making me feel very cold reading about your weather, especially the snow! As I've mentioned previously, we get very little snow in my neck of the woods and, so far, this winter is no different. We had a little dusting a couple of weeks ago but that's all it was, a very light dusting which had gone within a couple of hours.

Well, Rocco has just arrived so I'll disappear for a little while and take him for a walk. I suspect it will be a short walk as we have light rain and he doesn't like rain...light or not!! ;)

Okay, I'm getting more nervous as time passes. Any K-Posse peeps have a spare room?! Anyone up for a slumber party? This is the latest prediction for my area... which is Area A.

"AREA A: Preliminary snowfall amounts of 16 to 22 inches. Roadway conditions will likely be impassable Saturday night through early Monday morning with heavy snowfall expected. Schools and businesses will likely remain closed into Monday and Tuesday. In future updates, I will likely need to add a 22+ inch range zone once I become confident where these heavier bands set up."

Good Afternoon, Kaila and Friends 🤗 :coffee: ❄️

Thank you guys for the nice comments and good thoughts around boyfriend's cat's passing. ❤️ You guys are lovely and I have passed your sentiments along to him. 🤗

Husband and I did finish the hockey game last night and indeed, our team did lose. But woah, what a game. A rare goal tender fight, which I normally don't like to see, but this one was well done by our goal tender as the opposing goal tender mixed into a fight between players and was hitting our player with the blocker, which can do some damage and is dangerous. This was the first fight of our goal tender's career and he is a veteran at 37.

I'm so afraid about the impending snow. I know it won't help, but I just don't want this to happen - so much!

Hoping everyone on this lovely thread is having a good (hopefully, warm) Thursday.

One of worst things about snowstorms in the east is that it’s heavy wet snow, aka heart attack snow.

In the interior our snow tends to be drier.

Don’t shoot the messenger. I think you’re getting all the snow that we’d normally have. There’s only a few patches of old snow lying around. Winter’s not over so I’d better not be smug.

For me it's starting Saturday night but the heaviest on Sunday. I've already received the "don't travel on Sunday unless it's an emergency" warning. One of the models is now calling for 14"-24" so it just keeps going higher. I'm getting groceries tomorrow and will be ready to batten down.
Sounds like a good plan.
And remember to stock up on batteries, etc, and cooked foods, like some hard boiled eggs, just in case of power outages.

Thanks for the tip about hard boiled eggs, Kaila! In all the years I've prepared for flooding, tornadoes, and blizzards in my area, I never thought of making hard boiled eggs. That would be great to have if the power went out. They would last for at least a little while if it goes. I have plenty of batteries and more than enough food and water. Still hoping the darn thing blows over, but not much chance.

Grocery pickup went great this morning... didn't have to wait at all, and the order was 100% accurate, but it always is. (y)

Good afternoon @Kaila and all. Today I decided to see if I could persuade Rocco to go to the park... and he complied which was good as I wanted to do my annual RSPB Big Bird Watch. You have to count the number of birds you see in one hour and only those that have landed, not those in flight. Unfortunately, most of the garden type birds appeared to have gone into hiding. 🤣

I saw blackbirds, magpies, robins, woodpigeons and crows. The RSPB are mostly wanting information on the number of garden birds you see but there is a section where you can name other birds that are none garden birds. I did see one cormorant, 4 swans and dozens of coots, moorhens, herring and black headed gulls, plus tufted and mallard ducks along with greylag geese.

I was a little bit disappointed not to have seen a bigger selection of garden birds as I've quite often in the past seen a variety of finches, tits, woodepecker and jays... but alas, not today. They must have known I was coming. ;)

Will be thinking of you that are expecting the icy/snowy weather.
