George Floyd and Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter in Floyd's death, worked together at a Minneapolis club as recently as last year, according to a report from local television station KSTP.

Maya Santamaria, former owner of El Nuevo Rodeo, said that both Floyd and Chauvin worked security at the club. She said that the two could have crossed paths, though Chauvin mostly worked outside as an off-duty officer, while Floyd primarily was inside as a bouncer. She wasn't sure if they knew each other.

"Chauvin was our off-duty police for almost the entirety of the 17 years that we were open," Santamaria told KSTP. "They were working together at the same time, it's just that Chauvin worked outside and the security guards were inside."

Santamaria also told the TV station that Chauvin "had a real short fuse," adding that he often pulled out mace and pepper spray when she thought it was unwarranted.

The wife of Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis police officer who is charged with murder in the death of George Floyd, is now filing for divorce, according to her attorneys.

"This evening, I spoke with Kellie Chauvin and her family. She is devastated by Mr. Floyd’s death and her utmost sympathy lies with his family, with his loved ones and with everyone who is grieving this tragedy. She has filed for dissolution of her marriage to Derek Chauvin," the Sekula Law Office said in a statement Friday night. "While Ms. Chauvin has no children from her current marriage, she respectfully requests that her children, her elder parents, and her extended family be given safety and privacy during this difficult time."

Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis police officer arrested in the death of George Floyd, opened fire on two people during his 19-year career. Eighteen conduct complaints were filed against him, two of which resulted in reprimands.......

A list of complaints filed against Chauvin during his career is posted in a database on the police department website, which includes no details of accusations. Anyone can file a complaint against an officer, whether or not it’s valid.

Tou Thao, an officer seen in Monday’s cellphone video standing guard as Chauvin pinned Floyd to the ground with his knee, has six complaints listed on the department’s site. Each was closed with no disciplinary action, except one that remains open.

My husband said the rest who stood around watching and failed to intervene, are cowards. I agree.

There's no one better than a good cop.
There's no one worse than a bad cop.....
or a 'good' cop who covers for him.

What really bothers me is how that officer looked while he was kneeling on Floyd. Like it was nothing to deprive another human being of oxygen. Like it was nothing to hear that poor man plead for his life.
With all the people looking for work, I can't believe that they can't hire better people for that job. And get rid of those who should never be allowed to take advantage of the power of a badge. How many times can a police officer be accused of abuse before they finally fire him? Does it have to come to death?

The family of George Floyd has hired their own pathologist for a separate autopsy after the official results claimed he did not die of strangulation or asphyxiation.

The preliminary results of the county’s autopsy instead concluded Floyd, 46, died from a combination of heart disease and 'potential intoxicants in his system' that were exacerbated by the restraint placed on him by police officers.

Floyd's family revealed Friday they have now hired the services of renowned forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden to conduct a second, independent autopsy.

They claim the underlying health conditions cited in the official report are ‘an illusion’.


Further to that The Killer Cop's wife also filed for divorce on the day of his arrest ..!!!

However, what I don't condone and never will is the vast looting and destruction carried out in the dead man's name... absolutely disgraceful, and I feel all protesters involved in this should face very stiff penalties. The destruction of property and businesses who are already suffering due to the Pandemic, and who now because of the actions of to these mindless thugs/ thieves, & protesters may lose their businesses and livelihoods , is just an absolute disgrace.

I also feel for Law enforcement , and the army who because of the actions of a rogue few Police officers , have now put their own lives on the frontline to protect everyone else...

Looting, destruction, rioting in general, people are fed up with their voices not being heard, so when anger trumps calm, cool and collect, this is the result, this is what happens. I don't condone widespread destruction either, but time, after time, after time and time again, we see an innocent life taken just as we have this time around, and nothing is done about it, nothing changes, voices and calls for change are ignored, so as anger and frustration reach a crescendo, so does the means in which people move to be heard. This is the end result.

I happen to think legalized murder is disgraceful, and when it stops, maybe then we'll see people demonstrate in a more civilized fashion, but when officials ignore the people in an uncivilised fashion, good on the people for moving towards an uncivilized fashion in order to be heard.

I wonder if the corrupt police force in Minnesota are hearing the people now?

I didn't hear about a "forged" check; I heard about "counterfeit cash." And that doesn't make him guilty of anything. I wouldn't recognize counterfeit cash if it was given to me & I would unknowingly use it. That wouldn't make me guilty of anything. Has he been tried & convicted - except in your world?
And, conviction is not a police officer's job. Neither is execution. Even if Floyd was guilty of trying to cash a forged check, he deserves to be murdered?
Even if Floyd was a murder suspect & already handcuffed, police wouldn't be allowed to kill him.
Even if police witnessed him murdering someone, & arrested & handcuffed him, police wouldn't be allowed to kill him.

So, to use your logic, anyone who passes counterfeit money or forges a check should be suffocated to death.

Also, to continue using your logic, he would still be alive if different officers had responded.
