As this "trade war" between the U.S. and China drags on, and escalates, get ready to pay more for dozens of items that many of us routinely purchase. If you anticipate needing some new items, NOW would be the time to buy, before prices begin to escalate when existing inventories run out. Here's a list of items that could increase in price, substantially, in coming weeks and months......

Those price increases will be reflected in the index used to calculate next years social security COLA. So I will get more money from the government to cover those costs. Therefore I'm not worried.

I'm waiting for the games to begin.

China exporting to Canada or Mexico to avoid the tariffs and then the Canadian or Mexican firms adding 10 or 15% for the trouble of moving goods into the United States or American manufacturers adding 20% to current prices and still keeping them competitive with the Chinese, etc...

Actually, a "quick look" at the web site I posted may not be enough. Scroll down past the advertisements, and you will see an alphabetic list of some of the goods we have to import from China....the list is quite long.

Just today, Walmart made a statement about upcoming price hikes, and I doubt that it will be very long before other mass retailers do the same....Target, Costco, even Amazon.

If past history is any indicator, future SS COLa adjustments will just cover a small fraction of inflationary prices.

Nope, a quick look was quite sufficient. Also, I am not a fan of panic buying.

The SS COLA better increase a lot. Because the word is... a Medicare B premium increase next year will eat up a small COLA.
