I seems impossible now a days to get anyone in a small town to get homes services to help around the house these days. They either want to much and they steal from you. I didn't take into consideration times have changed drastically. Paul

In the small town where I live there seem plenty of older (50 ish) woman who are willing to do care giving, house work, errands etc. for $10/hour especially if you are willing to let them choose the hours. Hired woman allowed me to keep my wife out of the nursing home for quite some time. I still hire a woman to visit her daily in the nursing home and feed her one meal. I also visit her and feed her one of her meals. She has to be fed and watched carefully because she's very prone to choking.

Paul, check with your state/county Dept. of Aging.

We have excellent programs (I’ve used some) which provide very low cost services such as:
Shopping
Transportation (medical and other errands)
Cleaning
Cooking
Various chores

A coordinator should visit you and set things up. Service providers (companies) are awarded contracts with the county. and there are strict guidelines. That want to keep the clients happy - it's their bread and butter. Providers I use do criminal/background checks and they are insured and bonded. They aren't even allowed to accept tips or Christmas gifts. I get a bill every month from the county which is a percentage of the actual cost. I'm quite pleased. (But I live in a large city).

Still, you should try..........there's got to be some home help service providers in your general vicinity.

Awww, you sound like such a good husband. Your wife was so fortunate to meet and marry you.

I live in a large city and there is no end to the number of quality Home Health Care Operations with fairly reasonable services from/bed making/bathing & dressing assistance/grocery shopping etc.

Paul, I did some research for help for seniors in your area and found this:

Clay County Department of Social Services
P.O. Box 147
Hayesville, NC 28904
828.389.6301

Please call and ask them about getting some help, and let us know what they say.
