Several years ago, I decided to get veneers on my upper teeth. I always had a wide gap between a couple of my side molars. I didn't really care, but as I got older I became more self-conscious because my upper teeth started to chip. I was in sales, and in my particular industry appearance was important. I was working at the time, so I had no issue parting with the $$$. The procedure wasn't painful, but it was weird. The dentist ground my teeth into what felt like nubs. I felt them with my tongue, and I thought if anyone saw them that way they would think I was a monster. Then the veneers were put on and all was well.
I've been very satisfied. I went with eMax porcelain veneers. They fit over the teeth and are luminescent so they mimic the color of the original teeth. They haven't chipped and they don't stain... even after drinking red wine or beet root juice. At the time, I asked my dentist how much it would cost to get my lower teeth done. He said "the same", and I said no thanks. My bottom teeth don't really show when I smile.
However, I'm done with my lower teeth being crooked, and lately they seem to attract and hold more stains. I have my teeth cleaned every 6 months, and my hygienist spends what seems like forever cleaning my lower teeth. She spends no time on my uppers. I'm going in tomorrow to get lower veneers. This time I will be listening to music on my Airpods while the dentist files away.
If I even have 10 more years on this earth, to me it is worth the investment to look in the mirror everyday and be pleased with my smile. If it keeps me from looking like this it's worth the money.
