Ghost Stories

Sorry, don't have time to watch the video but perhaps your post belongs in the Entertainment section, unless you are posting and eliciting comments about real life ghost stories. In any event, I have one for you. I used to date a Jamaican man who ridiculed people who believe in what Jamaicans call "duppies" (ghosts). A few years after we broke up, he called me and I could tell he was frightened. He said he went into his two year old daughter's room one night and saw an "old lady sitting on the foot of her bed". He knew I'm into this kind of stuff, so he wanted to know what to do. I gave him my recommendation which was not based on personal experience at all, but I figured it made sense. Although he was scared, he did not indicate that the spirit seemed threatening in any way. At the time, he and his wife were living in an old house. He never called me back, so I assume what I told him worked.

I was talking to someone the other day, a widower whose wife died at a young age long ago. We began talking of ghosts. He told me that about a month before his wife died, he had a very clear dream. A shady figure appeared to him and told him his wife would soon be dead. In his dream he argued with the figure, pleading for it not to happen. He didn't feel frightened, just wanted to convince the being not to take his wife.
A month later she had a fatal heart attack.

It just shows there is much we do not know.

Yes.
I like reading the ghost stories from the nurses that work in the hospitals.

There's a couple of sites that post them...but I can't think of their names right now.

Yes, I like ghost stories in literature but I like my own better because I have lived through them. Most people dismiss them as something only a nut would experience but they have been real. Not as horrifying as the garbage out of Hollywood but alarming in their own way. I don't know if in my ghost experiences the ghosts were trying to warn me for MY own good or for themselves, in some way to be noticed and or heard. But they leave when a human sees them. They did with me. They have been unforgettable experiences.

Would you care to share some of them with us? That's what this category is for...people who have had experiences and can share them without fear of being labeled crazy or being ridiculed. I'd love to read about some of your experiences!

I remember a few years back; I was in Intensive Care feeling pretty bad whilst recovering from an operation. I was in a room by myself and anyone that came into the room had to wear gloves, headwear and an apron . The main window was darkened and as I lay there, I saw a ghostly figure passing by. I wasn't scared and thought it could have been my departed husband checking up on me. When I was allowed to eventually get out of the bed, I walked over to the window facing the street and saw a transistor radio on the shelf. I turned it on, and it was playing my favourite tunes. There was a label on the radio which said "Dedicated to our darling son who passed away on the .............2012. Maybe it was him coming to see if I was alright. I'll never forget that feeling seeing the ghostly figure.

My husband usually went to bed holding hands with me until we fell asleep. The day that he died I was feeling so miserable and couldn't stop crying. I was all alone in our house and when I eventually went to bed, I swear, I felt his hand slowly enclosing mine until I fell asleep. This only happened once but I will never forget that feeling "All was well with the world". <
