Gift Card Swapping

(I put this here since it's sort of to do with thriftiness; if it needs to be moved, I'm glad to do so.)

Does anyone know of reputable sites for swapping gift cards? The only sites I could find--and who knows how reputable they are--were only to sell unwanted gift cards or to buy others. And since the site has to pay its bills somehow I guess, there's a fee; for instance, if I sold my $50 gift card, I'd get $37.50. I was just thinking that if there were an honest site for swapping cards, maybe the fee'd be a little less.

Any info. is appreciated; thanks.

This weekend I was going to give my friend a gift card to a spa. Since I couldn’t get there to pick it, I was going to buy a credit card gift card - until I saw as soon as it was used $3.75 was deducted. There may have been monthly deductions too, but I stopped reading as soon as I saw that. I put a nice crisp $ bill in her card. No deductions on cash. Thank goodness I did that since I couldn’t get to see her before her one-time trip to the spa.

It doesn’t answer your question, just gives my opinion on what I think about gift cards.

I pretty much agree with you; I've been telling Huzz for at least 10 years, "Although it is so nice of you to buy me a [Major Book Seller] gift card, next time you can just get me a Visa card instead that I can spend just about anywhere, espec. online for e-books; you know, if that's not too much trouble." (And it wouldn't be too much trouble; it'd actually be easier for him to pick up a Visa card at any grocery store.) But he hasn't been able to remember that, so after 10 years, I doubt if he ever will. So yeah, gift cards can be a hassle sometimes.

It was a Visa gift card that I was looking at that deducted $3.75 right away. This is Canadian. Check out what it says on the back of one in the US.
I will, now I'm curious. (Good grief, extra charges here, extra charges there; what next I wonder? Sigh.)
