DALLAS — Over the last year, Texas added 432,957 residents, pushing the state’s population to almost 28 million, U.S. Census Bureau data released this week shows.

That amounts to about 1,183 new Texans each day and the biggest population jump of any state in the country.

Florida was next, adding 367,525 residents from July 2015 to July 2016, followed by California, which added 256,077 people.
None of that is likely to surprise Texans, who have been hearing about the state’s skyrocketing population for years — not to mention seeing it in cranes dotting city skylines and the seemingly endless sprawl of neighborhoods sprouting on what was recently wide-open land.
Steve Murdock, a former head of the census and now director of Rice University’s Hobby Center for the Study of Texas, said the state has topped population growth lists since about the turn of the millennium — and he doesn’t expect that to change just yet.
“Nothing will last forever, but the best guess for tomorrow is what happens today,” he said. “And the best guess, after the last 16 years or so, is that Texas will probably lead population growth again next year.”
As of the 2000 census, Texas’ population was 21 million, about seven times the current population of Utah, the year’s fastest-growing state by percentage. Utah’s population crossed the 3 million threshold for the first time.

That's understandable, not many want to go native...

Didn't China put a limit on how many children you could have ?
If it doesn't stop, the whole world will be crawling with people, like ants.
Who ever designed animals knew what they were thinking. Be fruitful and propagate !

Except for those who fake an orgasm, if you recall, it's a great physical/mental experience!

Even I can remember it. Long before the "F-bomb was heard of.

How many illegal immigrants, criminals by the very definition, did Obama encourage to break into your country?
Actually Obama deported more illegals than any other president did. Bush 2nd didn't want to get rid of the illegals because it was his friends who wanted to hire them for the low wages.

As mrstime has stated, this President saw more illegal immigrants deported during his terms in office than anyone previously holding that office. And, he is OUR President that was elected TWICE by a large margin of the popular vote. So, where do you find a factual link that OUR President "encouraged" illegals to "break into" OUR country? Certainly, this President has welcomed refugees from war zones and from areas where human rights violations are prominent. He has stood by the inscription on OUR Statue of Liberty.

I find it amazing the number of people who don't even live in the United States that find fault with OUR government. WE citizens of the United States live in the best Country on the face of the Earth. We enjoy freedoms and liberties like no other. Evidently, those who are not as lucky express their envy by way of telling us how bad we have it. Sheesh.......

Liberties like the "right" to bear arms so you can go around shooting each other. Liberties like paying "through the nose" for healthcare. Liberties like denying womens' rights by the anti-abortion lobby. Rich enough to be amongst the most obese developed countries in the world. Blind enough to ignore global warming.......

Sounds just great. The best country on the face of the Earth? OK, the UK has plenty of faults, but at least it's not the USA.

The Obama regime deported more illegal criminals that had come before the courts for various crimes they had committed but the influx of illegals, sorry, "Undocumented Democrats" has been astronomical and unprecedented.

Not exactly. He changed the definition of "deported". Previously it referred to those who went through the legal process. Now, those turned around at the border count as "deported".

Bush was friends with CA avocado farmers, NC Christmas tree farmers and the AL chicken industry?? Interesting. But he has not been President for almost eight years. Does that mean the problem has been solved?

That's nonsense. The greatest number of illegals entering the country peaked in 2007 under George Bush. It's dropped by about a million since then, under Obama.
