Giving Grocery Pick Up A Try

My first time.
I've been meaning to try it.
I placed a small order just to try it.
Just above the minimum to avoid the fee.
All I really need is OJ.

At my local Pick n'Save.
They said today around noon,
they send a text I guess.

I know several people who order their groceries online and have them delivered to their homes or pick them up.

I haven't done that yet. Not sure if I ever will.

Well, if I wasn't before,
I am Officially Spoiled.
(y):giggle: Glad to hear it went well for your first time! The only thing I've had to watch, especially with bigger orders, is that I make sure to mark the things I don't want substitutions for. My one store does great with that and if they're out of something, I get a larger size or a better brand for the same price. Not so with the other place, though... if I order something for $5 and mark that subs are okay, it gives them permission to sub a $10 item (for which they actually charge the $10, unlike my other store)... so something to be aware of if you're offered the option.

I always include my tip in the payment. Instacart and Walmart both have a spot for it. I just had a delivery from Price Chopper this morning. I love it! Since I do not have a car it is really the only option for me. I hated having to ask for someone to come take me to the store.

I started ordering online and picking up my groceries during the pandemic. My delivery is free for the year and I only need to order at least once a month to even things out (there are 4 adults here). I do most of my shopping here and I check my weekly (Loblaws-PC points) for specials and sometimes there are emails with extra points if I spend a certain amount. Most meals are eaten at home so this plan really pays off in the long run.

We used store pickup at first, but then so many people were doing that, that we had to sit and wait for up to a half hour before they brought our order out to the car.
This was during the pandemic, and people were not shopping very much back then.
After that happened, I switched over to delivery, and it works out much better for us. We do not have to drive anywhere in bad weather, and I can order ahead of time, so I never run out of things I need.

It is great for canned/boxed items, but I usually shop from the fresh food aisles, and it is not so good there.
If a pineapple is $2 for a pineapple, they will bring the smallest pineapple in the bin, where I would have chosen a large one if I was there and picking them out.
I just got a package of romaine lettuce and it has one small head of lettuce, and one that barely even showed up in the package. I have bought these before in the store, so I know they are not all like that, and some have 2 nice heads of romaine in the package.

Yes, I used Walmart grocery and prescription pickup service during the time Covid was so bad, I've since then used Instacart when I did not feel well enough to get out. Both are a wonderful service, Instacart kind of expensive,
probably more affordable to use once a month for a big order, the Instacart service only started recently delivering this far out of town.

I used both Walmart and Kroger pick-up during the pandemic. No problems. When my car was in the shop I used Walmart delivery. I got wine with pick-up, where they can check your ID. Not so with delivery.

Walmart limited the number of large bottles we can get in pick up. Basically, that’s why we were doing it. A gallon of milk, 10 bottles of V8, distilled water, a jug of vinegar, etc. I can see their reasoning. This was especially helpful in winter when pushing a buggy through a snowy parking lot.
