Glasses?

I don't wear glasses all the time but I do have some store bought "cheaters" and some prescription glasses that I use when reading or paying bills. But most of the time I don't have any glasses on.

A while back I needed to use the phone book to call someone so I put my glasses on to find the number. Then I just left them on when I made the call. We have a small mirror hanging on the wall next to the phone and as I was talking on the phone, I looked at myself in the mirror.

I saw a strange creature looking back at me with tiny antennas of hair sticking out of the eyebrows, nose hair peeking out below, and my morning shave seriously needing a re-do. I took my glasses off, looked again and that time I looked ok. Hmm..

Yesterday I was washing some dishes and wiping off the counters in the kitchen. Later I came back into the kitchen with my glasses on. The counters still had crumbs on them and looked terrible. Hmm..

Well I get it, I know Mother Nature is trying to tell me something. Think I'll run down to the store and buy/rent some Mr. Magoo cartoons.. :)

I can't see much with my glasses off so I keep them on. I notice all the things that need cleaning...ugh..

I've worn glasses since about age 10...it's just 2nd nature to put them on in the morning, and remove them at bedtime. I get a thorough eye exam every year, and new glasses. I keep the old ones as spares in the vehicles, and a set in the workshop for use when doing yard work, or working on something that might send debris into my face...so I don't scratch my newest pair. Luckily my prescription hasn't changed much in recent years, so I can use the old glasses. When I go in for my eye exam, I take the oldest pair and drop them off at the eye doctors "recycle" box.

No glasses here. Cataract surgery worked a minor miracle. I have 20/20 mono-vision - one eye sees long, the other short and the brain mixes the two. I read phone books and newspapers without help. Don't know how long it will last but I'm enjoying it for now.

I've worn glasses nearly all my life. When I had cataract surgery a few years ago, I had the option of continuing with glasses or getting rid of them. I chose to continue with them; I'm used to them and would feel sort of naked without them!

Sunny, I did the same thing for the same reason. But I had my vision set for near instead of far. They don't like to do it that way for some reason, maybe they think you will change your mind later, but it worked out fine for me. I can view the computer screen without glasses. Have to take them off for close up, but I'd been used to doing that for years before anyway. It had already become a habit.

I've been very visually impaired since 13 for near sightedness. Wore soft contacts forever and loved them! After cataract surgery & correction for my problem, I could see so well, but it resulted in me having to wear 300 strength reading glasses. You can get them at the dollar store, and I must have 10 pair throughout the house. I would no more walk out of the house w/o my readers than I would my shoes.

Sadly, I learned nothing lasts forever. Now,5 yrs later, I'm headed back to the surgeon in to clean the "fuzzy" from the back of one of the lenses.

My friends laugh at this, but we women can be a bit vain. I don't have many wrinkles just like my mom, but I have aging dark circles and bags under my eyes. Would never go through surgery, but I bought a beautiful pair of glasses that have clear glass in them, and wear them if I'm going out. It completely conceals the problem, or maybe I just can't see well enough to know the problem isn't concealed at all! :)
