Gloucester Prison

As my daughter Cathy has often said to her partner Mike "you take me to loveliest places"

, here is one of them, Gloucester Prison, which officially closed in 2013 and is now a temporary museum, they visited the weekend before leaving for Germany.
There are plans to develop it see HERE
Gloucester is about 25 miles from here and a cathedral city, much like Worcester...

Thanks for the photos, Merlin.

I've also been interested in visiting old prisons when we have been on vacation. We still have a number of prisons from pre Federation Australia and some are well preserved and serve other purposes today. Some have become tourist attractions with evening 'ghost' tours to titillate the holiday makers.

Thanks!!!

The interior looks familiar to me.

I think I might have seen it used in a Masterpiece Mystery series.

I like the signs. We have visited museum prisons in Deer Lodge Montana and Melbourne Australia. The territorial in Yuma Arizona was the high school after it was no longer a prison. It is now a museum, but the athletic teams from Yuma high school are still called the "Convicts".
