Hello folks
Although I live in Rhos On Sea (North Wales) I am very happy to be here on this forum, not only just with with mainly American folks, but people from other parts of the world of course. In fact I find it rather facinating, and more interesting than being in a 'British' only forum. No disrespect meant on those forums of course.

I love Country And Western music, and for the first time I heard the below song by Bobby Bare and Loretta Lynn while listening on Spotify.

It is called God Bless America Again.
I would be very interested if anyone had any thoughts about what this particular song was saying in the 1970s, and if so, is it still relevent today?

I am amazed by how we go from crisis to crisis but always manage to survive and come out on top most of the time. However as a devout hedonist I don't believe that God has much to do with it...

Thank you for replying Ralphy.
And although I am not a particular believer in God, if he is around, I wouldn't think he had anything to do with whatever is wrong either.
 

I'm a non-believer, Boozer, so probably the worst person to give you an answer. Although the majority of religious people in this country are good people, doing good, we have a large, vocal group of Evangelical Fundamentalists that are at the root of much of the discord and other problems we have. There are way too many hands being raised to Heaven instead of being held out to the new people next door.
 
Boozer, Check out "The Seventies" on the Web. A whole lot was going on. Viet Nam, Watergate, high crime rate, culture wars, etc. Much has changed for the better, but we have plenty of new problems to deal with.

Thank you for that underock, and I can see were your comng from, and I agree with your sentiments there...

And for those people who do believe in God, I certainly would say...
God Bless America to help with those problems.
If only because a lot of America's problems are intertwined with UK problems.
But perhaps that is a whole new subject?! :cool:

Thanks, but I'll still disagree with you on many things. :D I actually find a big mug beer very appealing. Makes me thirsty.
