Going back to work..

..after being lazy (oops, I meant retired) for just under 5 years.

I decided to just take baby-steps to see how I do, but found a neat program called "Foster Grandparents". I went for it since I love and get along good with little ones (these will be grades 1-5) and I'll be just an assistant-type to the teacher in the class. I'll be helping kids with their reading, math etc., one on one. I'm not sure when I will be called in for the first time yet, but I am looking forward to it. It is an on-call position, and you can take it or leave it. Of course leaving it could lead to no more calls ;)

My good friends helped with my jitters by reminding me of the perils of working with children. You know, runny noses, sneezing, coughing?? Grubby, little hands? But I decided to just be prepared with my flu shot and pneumonia. But just to play it safe, I am buying a new wardrobe as well. My first couple of outfits will arrive within 3 days thanks to good, ole Amazon. I know they will all be pretty much the same but I can get different colors at least:

I really am excited Bee ;) When I was a kid I so could have used some extra help in school. I read somewhere that there are like 380,000 kids and 30,000 FG's (foster grandparents). I think it will be a good fit for me, and all the schools are within walking distance, which I do love to walk ;)
