"Going Clear"

Going Clear, the movie that rips the top off Scientology is on HBO on Demand. We will watch the documentary tonight. I read some of the remarks by those who have watched and they are scathing. One calls Cruise and Travolta "SCUM" for knowing what they know and not doing anything about it.

The whole Scientology phenomenon is just so totally weird. I'm not sure I'll watch the movie because it will just cause me to try to come to grips with such weirdness and my world in weird enough already. But by all means tell me you reaction tomorrow.

Well Scientology is an interesting subject. Clearly a cult, how it has attracts the people it has amazes me. I thought the Joseph Smith work of fiction in the late 1800's was the silliest thing I had ever heard of and then came this. Wonder what ole Joseph was drinking when he found those golden plates that disappeared before anyone but him saw them.

That's pretty much what my husband said after we watched that documentary, and I agree.

I think Scientology initially attracted a lot of druggies in the 80s, that was their selling point, to get high without drugs. Possibly these kids (many of whom are seniors now) wandered in off the street, stoned out of their skulls and deeply dazed and confused. Then it escalated from there, the kids had kids and their families were drawn in too.

I don't have HBO on my ATT U Verse but checked my Amazon Prime and found "Going Clear" which I will watch this afternoon and report back later with my reaction to it.
