Which items did you forget to buy the last time you shopped for groceries, and was it because you didn't make a list beforehand?

Always make a list. If I did not get it, the store was out of it but I always get a rain check. Kroger had All detergent on for 99 cents if you down loaded it to your card. Of course they did not get enough and I did not get it and it was on the list. They extended it for a week and if they still do bot have it, I will get a raincheck.

Every time I think of something I just tell Siri to add it to my list. I also have an app for same. Of course, then I have to LOOK at this stuff once I get to the store, and not rely on my memory lol!!!

I make a list follow it & bring home everything when I do the shopping. When my wife is with me we get everything on the list and a whole lot more. Gotta hand it to store managers that strategically place items I wouldn't buy where my wife can see them.

Our local HEB supermarkets have had a "free delivery" promo for the past month or so. I have been enjoying ordering groceries online and having them arrive at the time I scheduled. This has been great and I have been spending less since there are no "impulse buys" from the bakery being added to my cart. :D So I haven't forgotten anything that I'm aware of.

We make a list but why is it that there looks to be only about $30.00 worth of stuff on the list but by the time we get to the checkout the cart most always looks likes this ?........$$$$$$

I'm one of those irritating, super-organized people who:
Keeps an ongoing list adding items I'm getting low on
Organize my list based on how store is arranged
Never go down the same aisle twice
Download digital coupons
Organize paper coupons
Never forget my list or an item
Always take a few bags
No impulse buying
Prior to the actual trip I estimate the total - always within $5... usually within $2

I've got it down to a science. Sorry folks!

PS - I actually don't like grocery shopping, and when they move/rearrange things it throws me off-kilter

I have a master list print out of the usual groceries and toiletries.
We go over it the night before our trip to town.
That creates the ‘need’ list

Hey, it’s 50 mi to town

Forgetting anything is not an option

Remote living has advantages and disadvantages. Having lived where shopping for two weeks at a time was necessary that was one of the reasons we moved to where I can walk to and do walk to any one of the 3 major food stores where we live. Depends on what is needed & of course the price.

No argument.
There's trade offs, for sure.
Right now, I wouldn't be anywhere else.
But
There will come a time....

I forgot croutons. Mainly because I never buy them. We are having company and I'm having a tossed salad with dinner and thought it would be nice to have croutons. I might just cube a few slices of bread, and toss them around in a pan with some butter and seasonings till toasted. They probably won't know the difference..

They'll be better

My daughter who has three young children has taken full advantage of Click-List and Shipt, two companies that offer grocery delivery. She also used AmazonPantry though it's a bit more expensive.

Other than a slightly higher price for some items, and the fact that there's an expectation of a tip, she's been very happy with the service. She gets everything she wants without getting off the couch, she doesn't have to drag tired or cranky children through the grocery store, dealing with the stuff they see that they want every 2 minutes, no loading and unloading of young ones from the car. She makes the order, and a short while later it's delivered to the door. Her personal shopper can just text her with questions, sometimes sending a picture of the item in question. There are seldom mistakes on her order, and as long as she ordered within the proscribed window, it's quick and efficient.

Aint technology grand??? ;)

I've done this a few times with my local grocery store.

Difference are-

There are no slightly higher prices for delivery, and if the sale item is out, you get the higher priced item at the sale price.

Tips are not allowed and refused.

Fee is 10.00. If you want them to shop and then pick up yourself, fee is 5.00.

Except for the coupons (hardly use them) and bringing my own bags (I recycle them for used litter) I agree with everything you wrote, including your PS. I shop every two weeks and gather the recipes I want to make and write down on the list all the ingredients I need to buy. I have my items list in the order of the aisles in the store. I leave the frozen items for last and that's the only time I backtrack through the aisles.
