Going to get my right knee replaced

Seen a new reconstruction surgeon yesterday. He said I need X-rays of you standing on the knee with pressure on it, as all that's on your file are ones of your knee at rest laying on the X-ray table.

So I got the X-rays & then he sat down for about a 1/2 hr telling me the outside of that knee is bone on bone, & no kind of shots will take away the pain of 20+. So he recommended removing the partial & putting in a full knee replacement. We got to talking about all the good & bad things that can happen as normal when going in for any surgery.

Then he sent in his nurse to schedule my surgery. She said Tom I don't know when you can get in as all the beds in the hospital are now used for Conav-19 patents. There are two other people ahead of you for your surgery so should not belong as soon as the hospital starts giving surgeons rooms for their patients to recover in 3 days.

So now I wait for an opening room at the Hospital.

I love this because.....happy you're getting a full knee replacement.....your joint pain will be instantly gone.
But....
You'll have the pain of the muscles, tendons healing and knitting back together.
Rehab is crucial......cold therapy helps big time.....
Rehab exercises are important for the recovery of getting your bending degree back and straightness in the back of the knee.
I guess it's your call on how much exercise you do.....the less you do....mobility will be stiff......your choice.

I've had both knees done....1 in 2014...the other in 2016. Need to have both hips done, but waiting lists have been so long for so long, and covid doesn't help.
GOOD LUCK to you. HOPING for the BEST for you......the wait will be painful.

Thanks, MicaC.
That's exactly what this surgeon told me about therapy after the replacement. I know a lot of people when I was mowing 30 yards here in town that had joints replaced. If they did the therapy hard they came out fine. The ones that just laid around ended up not being able to move or a wheelchair.

I'm too much of a go-getter to not do the therapy as they want me to do. I was in therapy for 6 weeks before & as the therapist said a little pain is good. Lots of pain were doing something wrong. After 3 weeks he even knew the therapy was not working & sent info to other surgeon that had me do it, he told them to keep it up for full 6 weeks twice a week.

The new surgeon yesterday said I saw that in your chart. That was a waste of time & probably hurt you more than it did well.

Happy for your determination.......you'll do great.
Pretty much like you said.....you snooze .....you loose.
Why would anyone go through replacements....then sit on their a**....such a waste.
