Going to last unread post in a thread....

Just joined and have had several members reply or like my initial post but when going to see what has been said I am sent to the first post in that thread not the most recent. How do I do that from both the 'like' notification and any thread previously viewed?

I don't think you can do that from a 'like' notification. But, to go back to the thread and begin at your comment click the thread name that is highlighted in blue and it takes you to your comment so you can work on from there. I think the assumption is that you have read all the comments up to the one you put up, so why read them once more.

The hard part I have an issue with is finding the place where the most recent comments are in a long, ongoing thread that has been around for years. In this case neither page 1 nor the last page of comments in the thread is consistently the place to find the recent comments. I am fairly new here and still have navigation issues with the site.

Still learning my way around here and finding myself overwhelmed by the amount of activity on here, is there a way to view a list of just the most recent posts in the threads I have replied to? (as opposed to the long ongoing list of 'my content' where previous conversations can be waaay down the list)
Yes, the 'like' popup sort of does find the latest bit not handy to find what I said or was following on other threads a while back ....old minds and fading memory eh!

When you enter the thread, at the top/right, there should be a "Jump to New" button. Just click on it.

Perhaps I was not real clear on what I was looking for, I now have no problem going to the last post IN A THREAD I am more looking for list of threads that I have interacted with from various parts of the forum in the past.

Ah. In the blue band at the top of the page, click on your username, RuralKanuck. Then select Your Content.

Up in the right hand corner of the page where your name is...click your name, underneath there will be a list..choose 'Your Content". That should do it.

OK, thanks but that tab lists ALL my recent content so after responding a number of times in a particular thread previous threads are WAY down the list. That said I have now found out that if you find one of your previous posts and clich on you name icon there is a choice there in a tab below that says 'Find', clicking it give you a choice of 'find all content' or 'find all threads' (by said person) in this case me!

Find all threads gives me exactly what I was looking for, just a little tough to find!

Just a small additional comment here entering a thread by that tab does not take you the last post but the first which is fine if the 'Jump to first' tap was available! Said tab does not show up except when you enter a thread for the first time, looking later it is not available.

@RuralKanuck ... you're asking things I never even thought to ask and as a newbie I'm learning loads.
As I age I find I am not exactly 'the sharpest tool in the shed' and look for easy to remember ways to do stuff and tend to save links to get there directly. Each forum is a little different with different tabs, rules and systems and I find links to the bits you use really helps, BUT first you have to know of such things and where to find them eh!

@RuralKanuck if you want to go/check on threads you are interested in or ones you have posted to, you can choose "Watched" on the second row top left under Forums/ What's New etc.

Threads you post on are always under "Watched". If you just want to read a favorite thread but haven't posted to it, you can look to the right top of thread page and choose "Watch". It will let you choose to get an email or just watch when something new.

When you click on top left "Watched", it will bring up the pages of all threads you posted to or you picked to "Watch.

Hope that is what you want.

OK that works for my needs ..... now is there a way to 'unwatch' a thread (including one of my own in the future) and a way to put the most recent posts to the top of the list?
I know, I know ....picky, picky, picky LOL
Still learning!

Keep your eyes open for Direct Messages from members, that only you can open and read. On the top bar there is an envelope icon, it if has a number on it, you have a Direct Message. Click on it to read it. This is a way to have a conversation without the whole group reading it. I have sent you one now. JimB.

Yep.
At the top right of the threads you "Watch", you can click "Unwatch".
also
The page you can bring up "Watched" to see all your "Watched" threads"
There are little square boxes to the right infront of "Replies", put a check mark in the box you want to stop watching.
Then go to to bottom of the page. In the box that says "With Selected", click the arrow next to it and choose "Stop Watching" or whatever. Then click "Go". This will remove those you have selected.

When you do this, it will take you back to the first page, so you may have to go through other pages if you have more to delete.
Most recent post are at the top/first page.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for this DB and all your previous help, in this case I see it now you must be actualy watching the thread to unwatch it, you cannot unwatch fron a viewed list of posts you have previously watched..... simple once you know how and dont have me on the other end :)

I am not understanding what you mean from this post.

If you create a watched list from the main forum by 'show only watched' the preferences do not show up, had me going for a bit re your explanations LOL From the main 'watched tab' at the top of the forum everything works fine (I think)
