Anyone here ever heard of ’Ndrangheta?

From my home under the rock, I never have. It's bigger than the mafia.

Over three days, police raided 48 cafes, businesses and residences connected to the group, seizing C$35m ($26.8m) in assets, including five Ferraris.

The nine suspects have been held on a raft of accusations, including money laundering, defrauding the government and participating in an organized crime group.

Canadian police are still trying to track down another man on related illegal gambling and drugs charges.

In Italy, police arrested 12 people and sought two others in a parallel investigation for Mafia association, illegal weapons possession, fraudulent asset transfers and other crimes.

The so-called “Figliomeni Group” also ran illegal gambling dens out of cafes, 11 of which were seized by police. Police seized 27 homes and 23 luxury vehicles, including one Ferrari valued at C$880,000.

Angelo Figliomeni was wanted by Italy for years but since he is Canadian and there are no mafia-association laws there, he couldn't be extradited. But the Canadian cops nailed him.

Yes, I have, although I know little about them because I was never in the Division that oversaw those types of crimes. There are some factions of this organization in the U.S. I think they are set up pretty close the same way as the Sicilian Mafia with families in charged of businesses.

I will check with a friend of mine that did a lot of undercover work and find out if he is able to share any information. He also may or may not have been involved with this organization.
