My grandma and I would always go downtown on Good Friday. We'd drop in at the Episcopal church downtown and listen to the music for a while, have lunch in the tearoom at the department store, and do a little poking around. THen we'd go over to Weiss's Deli to get a couple loaves of their wonderful bread and some rolls for Easter Dinner. We'd go home and get the house decorated for the Easter Dinner after church on Sunday.
Spring Break always started on Good Friday and lasted through the week after Easter Sunday.
I can't remember much of Easter when I was young. I would be dragged to church on Sunday and after dinner, we would probably go egg rolling. It's not really celebrated here, but if the weather is good, I expect the beach will be busier than usual.
