Good morning america !!

Merry Christmas everyone! It is Christmas Eve here. I am all ready for Christmas except for cooking all the food. I will do that tomorrow. I am having Christmas with my kids. I am lucky. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

Oh no, DB; hope your friend and all those going without power for Christmas were prepared as much as possible.

Almost Christmas Day here, and I am soon to hit the hay....Merry Christmas, everyone!!!! :glee: :eek:fftobed:

6:18 AM Christmas morn. So peaceful and quiet right now. Mama is still asleep and I am in my favorite chair reflecting back on past events. A little sad that the kids are so far away but will face time them later and watch the grand kids open their presents.

Was watching Buying Hawaii last night and they showed three nice houses for sale with in-law apartments. Need to put a bug in my son's ear as he has talked about retiring there. Make a decision soon, son. I ain't getting any younger......

Merry Christmas America and Hope all my Aussie friends got when they wanted yesterday. Oh Di, by the way, as soon as I hit the lottery, I will send you that red convertible. Pappy

Boxing Day is a public holiday in the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand and Australia, as well as many other members of the Commonwealth of Nations and Greece. It is based on the tradition of giving gifts to the less fortunate members of society.

It is usually celebrated on 26 December, the day after Christmas Day[1][2]; however, its associated public holiday can be moved to the next weekday if 26 December is a Saturday or Sunday. The movement of Boxing Day varies between countries.

Origins

Boxing Day is a traditional celebration dating back to the Middle Ages, of which the primary practice is the giving of gifts to employees or to people in a lower social class. The name has numerous folk etymologies[3].

Here in Australia all the stores have huge sales, the large ones have people lined up for hours before they open so they can grab a bargain, we usually have picnics using the leftovers from Christmas day.

Here in the states today, there are huge sales too, some which started on Christmas night. ... and then this year, the UPS trucks are out the day after Christmas still delivering packages that never made it to their destination in time. ..

There's a lot of squabbing in the news, and finger pointing over who ruined the holiday for a lot of people..

oh, happy holidays... :D

To celebrate Boxing Day in the USA we pile empty containers and wrapping paper on the sidewalk the day after Christmas . . .

There's also a favorite tradition of playing "Who Spots The Christmas Tree Tossed To The Side Of The Road" first. Much fun . . .
