Good News, Bad News

We have only eaten at McDonald's once and that was years ago in Sweden when we stopped for coffee. We asked for it to go and they gave us a weird look and served our coffee in ceramic cups and saucers with some pastries and told us to go out and sit at a table under a tree and enjoy the day. We did and both were delicious. Other than that we have managed to remain fast food free. I don't see us breaking that streak.
You've reminded me of something that happened to me in England.

I ordered at one of the fast food places and when I was done the girl looked at me and said, "Tweeten?" I said "What?" She said (getting irritated with me,) "Tweeten?" I still had no idea what she was asking but the "Tweet" part made me think of something like chicken nuggets so I said, "Okay." In time she gave me my tray and it had no chicken, but that was fine, I gathered it up and left while she looked at me curiously. It wasn't till I'd been there about a year and heard a lot of "Tweetens' that I realized she was asking me if I wanted to eat in.

She was probably asking if it was to eat in but her accent was so heavy you heard tweeten.

I hadn't heard of Wendy's but apparently they have just opened their first restaurant on the Gold Coast. It will be interesting to see if they go the way of Starbucks who went broke because any coffee shop can make better and cheaper coffee than Starbucks.

Starbucks joined a fairly long list of foreign companies that thought this was an easy market and ended up going broke. Dunkin Donuts, Carl Jr, Kaufland and Dennys are a few I can think of off hand.

And we're not eating at Wendy's (or any other "fast food" eatery) 'cause it's not healthy ? Over the years, my wife and I have eaten at many fast food eateries. Many while on the road between Mass. and Florida. Forget the health - - -they were quick, you didn't have to leave the car. tasty enough, and if you were worried about the price - -you should have stayed home.

We've both reached 90, having tasted many of their goodies seemingly without bad effects. I know it's the "thing" today to talk about healthy food and eating but my "end" isn't far away and I'll keep on munching those Whoppers and fries !:p
