Good Reads and Recommendations

Mysteries and thrillers:

John Sandford - the Prey series of books (Rules of Prey is first in series); He also has a series with the Virgil Flowers character (first is Dark of the Moon)
Thomas Perry - the Jane Whitefield series (Vanishing Act is the first of the series)
James Lee Burke - his series about detective Dave Robicheaux is so good (first one was The Neon Rain)
Matthew Fitzsimmons - The Short Drop was his first book
Peter Swanson - Each of his books has an unexpected twist. Start with The Girl With a Clock for a Heart.

Great story tellers I enjoy reading:

Paulette Jiles - I really enjoy the way she writes. I highly recommend News of the World.
Kristen Hannah - Ditto. The Great Alone is one of my favorites

Thanks all for your recommendations. I'm off to Amazon to add them to my wish list.

In the basement of our apt building,we have a community library with all sorts of books. When I'm done, will go back to reading Kristin Hannah's book'On Mystic Lake'

I highly recommend books by Jane Harper. Set mainly in the Australian outback. The Dry, Force of Nature, The Lost Man. Fourth one due out in September.

The Dry -
Luke Hadler turns a gun on his wife and child, then himself. The farming community of Kiewarra is facing life and death choices daily. If one of their own broke under the strain, well…

When Federal Police investigator Aaron Falk returns to Kiewarra for the funerals, he is loath to confront the people who rejected him twenty years earlier. But when his investigative skills are called on, the facts of the Hadler case start to make him doubt this murder-suicide charge.

And as Falk probes deeper into the killings, old wounds start bleeding into fresh ones. For Falk and his childhood friend Luke shared a secret… A secret Falk thought long-buried… A secret which Luke’s death starts to bring to the surface...

I also enjoy the Joe Pickett series by C J Box, set in Wyoming where Joe is a game warden.
I don't know if I ever properly thanked you for this recommendation. I've enjoyed her books so much, have read most twice, and have recommended her works to others.

Just now noticed CJ Box's Joe Pickett series recommendation at the bottom of your post. Put Dull Knife on hold at my library.
