Good Supplement to Tricare?

I just ditched Selman Company. They said they would pay whatever extra we were charged, no questions asked. No authorization required. What I failed to ask was how the claim system worked. Apparently, I have to fill out 6 pages of claims info, which, to me, that should be your job if I'm paying you. When I did, they said the claim wasn't authorized! So, they lied. My air force sister said they did the same to her. Shifty company.
Anyone have better luck with other supplemental companies? (I refuse to use the VA except for annual, routine screenings and meds.)

You might not be getting any suggestions because once you hit 65, you have to buy Medicare Part B in order to keep TriCare.

This is true. I have Tricare4Life now. My deceased husband was a war-wounded Veteran. I've been looking at supplemental plans to go with my Medicare, also. You do have to have A and B coverage to use Tricare, but it takes the place of D, paying for my prescriptions. Good luck.

I'm 70 and a retired military veteran.

Had Tricare Prime until I was 65. Didn't need any supplement. Co-pays were really small.
Gallbladder removal would have cost about $60-$70k and I was only out of pocket for $25. Twenty-five dollars.
Civilian doctor performed the removal ... but I did have to get a referral to go "out in town" from Tricare.

After 65, Tricare Prime automatically converted to Tricare For Life and became basically a supplement that also covers prescriptions as @vintageMo mentioned. The way it works is whatever Medicare A and B don't pick up, TFL covers. So far, no other supplements required.

Since 65, I've had services from two different ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctors. Lab and Radiology services from two different hospitals. Medicare and Tricare For Life covered it all. I am on Thyroid meds and while Tricare For Life picks up most of the prescription cost, I'm out of pocket on the meds for only about $3 a month.

So for me, simply Medicare A and B and Tricare For Life is ALL I need. And the stacks of mail I get trying to get me to sign up for some sort of Medicare supplement program or another get tossed without even a read. Just junk mail.

Thank you for the replies. i can't get medicare for quite a while. I'll keep looking.
