Google fires engineer who said AI tech has feelings

Just another WOKE person as far as I'm concerned...if he can't abide but his company's confidentiality policy then he has to go...

In a statement, Google said Mr Lemoine's claims about The Language Model for Dialogue Applications (Lamda) were "wholly unfounded" and that the company worked with him for "many months" to clarify this.
"So, it's regrettable that despite lengthy engagement on this topic, Blake still chose to persistently violate clear employment and data security policies that include the need to safeguard product information," the statement said.

Yep, he should never have taken the job in the first place.

Just because someone can write a program that does a good job of imitating feelings doesn't make the program anything different from any other program...

I have a feeling Lemoine got way too emotionally connected to the "LAMDA" device, and its "wants". Really, how did he know the machine had 'wants'? Firing him because he may be unhinged could come back to bite them in a lawsuit. It sounds like the typical corporate response. Let's find something -anything that we could fire him with.
